Getting Home-y with Homee
Making a space your own takes a thoughtful process, time, and lots of research. It definitely doesn't happen overnight and sometimes you pick up pieces along the way that really bring personality and charm to your home. I've been in my studio for a little over a year and in the efforts to finish furnishing my space, I decided to see what Homee was all about. Homee, the new way to furnish your home, is an app that makes your interior dreams come true. A mobile take to Interior Design for the modern person. In all honesty, I didn't know what to expect and was a little nervous about trying something new. I want to be the first to tell you how EASY it was. Chat, visualize, shop. Let me elaborate...
As soon as you download the app, you are connected with a real (yes real!) designer who has style and design experience and is ready to help your with your vision for free. Yep, you heard it. Cut the middle man Interior Designer that is going to cost you a fortune.. this app is the real deal, and your first design is completely free. It's as easy as texting with a friend; you get a notifications whenever your designer replies and they are typically extremely quick to respond; you won't ever be waiting long. (Get to know the whole team here!) With a vision in mind, you send your designer some photos of your current space and go through mock rooms of styles you like and dislike. You tell them what you're looking for and from there, they go to work. After having some back and forth communication on what my space needed, my designer, Claire (Hi Claire! You were amazing, thanks again!) got back to me within twenty-four hours with a mock design and pieces we discussed. I was amazed. After talking with the team, I concluded that I really needed some cool shelving to display all of my books, candles, and art, along with a full length mirror. A fashion blogger without a full length mirror!? I know, I don't know how I did it for a year.
Not only did Claire find me some incredible shelving options, cool ceramic pots, minimally inspired art, lighting, and a beautiful faux fur rug, she also found the mirror of my dreams from West Elm.
Claire asked me if I was happy with everything and if I wanted more options to choose from. We played around with ideas, swapped out some vases, and finalized the visual of exactly what I wanted. It was perfect! I decided to go with two gorgeous midcentury acorn wood bookcases, along with a wooden frame full length mirror, all from West Elm. Adding things to my cart was easy, and with a touchscreen-click, I checked out. That was it? I could hardly believe it. While I was busy at work, focusing on answering emails and shooting projects, a designer was thoughtfully working on my space, my home. With full trust, Claire knew exactly what I was looking for. She knew how important my studio is to me because I work and live from my space; I want this to be somewhere I always like to be. A place I could feel inspired, and also a place I could host the ones I love. I couldn't wait to see my vision in real life.
You can see in my before photos how badly I needed to fill that empty space. It was calling for a mirror and for some pretty bookcases to put all of my books on. If you get to know me and see my space in person, it wouldn't be long before you noticed how many books I have. My place could be categorized into four different things: books, plants, art, and mixed materials. It makes me happy to be surrounded by these things and I anxiously awaited for my new furniture to arrive. Within two weeks, I had white glove delivery and my furniture arrived in pristine condition. I had heart eyes as they brought the bookshelves down my stairs and placed them right in front of my windows. They fit like they were made for my place. And the mirror? Well, that's a whole other story. I mean, look at it.
That's it! I am happily and officially enjoying my space. Every time my friends come over, I get endless compliments about how much more pulled together my place is. I feel like I now have a completed adult space that is curated to my personality and taste. I can't wait to use Homee again, even for small projects. If I need new art, a fresh rug, pottery, sheets, kitchen "things"... you name it, I can count on my Homee to help me out. Thank you to the team at Homee for making my live/work studio a place I never want to leave!
